Our Story

Southern Design Piers got its start as the sister company of Southern Design Concrete and Southern Design Landscaping back in 2019. Our founder, Deven Bradford, who has a degree in civil engineering, saw an opportunity to help builders struggling with the mitigation of substandard soils to maintain their construction schedules by performing helical piers in conjunction with concrete foundations. Deven and his entire team went through a rigorous certification process to become accredited through Chance Helical Piles/Piers, the USA-based company that revolutionized helical pier technology. The equipment used by SDP is the most advanced in the industry and utilizes certified calibrated torque meters for the installation of every pier to ensure proper installation and load-bearing capacity. Additionally, all products SDP uses are manufactured in Centralia, Missouri using USA-produced steel and include a manufacturer’s lifetime guarantee.

Deven’s degree in civil engineering allows him a deeper understanding of structural capacities and the importance of following engineered specifications when reinforcing any foundation. Because of this knowledge-based approach, in a very short time, Southern Design Piers has gained the trust of customers by delivering value propositions not offered by the competition. Deven Bradford – COO, Southern Design Concrete and Southern Design Piers

Deven holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Southern University. Deven’s first experience in construction came early when he interned with a residential framing contractor during high school summers. While pursuing a degree in civil engineering, he interned with Heidelberg Technology Center (the research lab of Lehigh-Heidelberg Cement Group) performing chemical and physical concrete testing under the direction of civil and chemical engineers. Deven has managed the construction of several large-scale commercial renovation projects. After overseeing thousands of new construction projects for Southern Design Concrete, Deven was promoted to COO of the company in 2019.  Deven also holds a Georgia Residential Basic Contractor’s License and is a certified installer of pervious concrete.
